Sorry to come late to this party.
I work with a guy who just bought a EeePC and I was lucky enough to get
a chance to play around with it the other day. I would characterize it
as an accessory. The best reason to have it is that for 399.00 you don't
need to tote a heavy laptop around, heck the EeePC fits in a large coat
pocket. I could do real work on it, OpenOffice, etc, but I could not see
myself working on it for long periods. I did not play around long enough
to "break" out of the GUI LINUX interface and play at the command line,
but I was pleased with the experience. I think I would purchase one, but
would like to compare to other candidates. I am interested in trying and
XO before I decide what to get.
