Can you provide a little more context?  The Kroneker Delta/Iverson
Bracket is  a pretty fundamental and generally useful(used) abstraction
across lots of domains.

If you are trying to use the tweeted advice you quoted, you must be
working with "logical conditions and truth values in some formula"?  
But that only narrows it down a little?
