[FRIAM] tapeworms

The image I had was of the Wall-E blob-like consumers with their hover-chairs and big gulps.   I would say the goal is not to become the inert creature (e.g. by licking bird poop to manipulate workers), but to figure out what enables that, and get rid of it.
