The immediate cause of attention is a report and editorial by Ronald Wright on his study which accumulated a data base of jury selection in some jurisdiction and pointed out that African Americans are roughly twice as likely to be eliminated in peremptory challenges than white people. One of his two proposals for remediation is the publication of data bases for all jury selection proceedings as a matter of public record.
