Pamela and Joe were good friends, and she was a mentor for me as I struggled to enter the new world of complex systems. Pamela witnessed the birth and the growth of AI and danced and sparred with the great luminaries (Herb Simon, Ed Feigenbaum, her husband Joe Traub, Raj Reddy, etc) - She was a humanist that interpreted the field and created bridges for Snow's Two Cultures. She was an equal among the masters.<br><br>She reminded me of my favorite aunts, one that humored explorations but let you know you still had no idea what you're talking about.
