I worked  with Carl closely at BiosGroup 2000-2002 especially on the Honda Project where we were evolving the future shapes of cars with genetic algorithms. Carl was a great mentor and friend to me. In hiring employees, you may have heard of the "Airport Test" which asks if you would be excited to be stuck in an airport with this person as flights get rescheduled. This has happened more than once for me with Carl as we traveled together and he is the metric I use of someone that was so great to pass the time with - he always had an interesting perspective, insight and story.
