Test Video for Infrared Illumination

Using our Webcam IR experiment described here we wanted to test how well we could illuminate the sand in the infrared without interfering with the projection of simulations in the visible spectrum.

As a test, we projected this image on the sandtable

We then put up the IR webcam and illuminated the sand with the IR LEDs in a Sony TRV-530 Digital 8 handycam with "Nightshot". Click for QT video (3.4Mb).

Notice that the projected image is completely filtered out and we're getting good shadow detail in the IR. The room has a sunlit window toward the top of the sandbox so we did have some additional IR lighting.
