I could believe using machine learning to mimic a celebrity or someone that lots of video content on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube.

But what would be the data set to use for generative learning of a random person? Hack into their web-cam?

Also, the kind of technology that can be used to perfect a forgery (generative adversarial neural nets) could also be used to authenticate video from multi-modal signals. Like the iPhone X visual login, but adding in speech patterns or even higher-level personality signatures.

It seems to me that after a few high-profile cases of such forgeries, and a period of chaos, expectations will change.
