The only way I can see for this bleed through to be acknowledged, collectively, is by repeated training exercises. The Water of Life and the Spice Agony (Dune), come to mind – selection pressure. It doesn’t really matter what those consequences are, but at least prediction and adaptation have some practical utility. Maybe the adaptation is to build a bunker in Kauai or spend several trillion dollars to go to Mars?
