She's not a depressed academic because she's not an academic, though she does play one on TV. And she doesn't sound depressed so much as like an aggrieved reactionary. Peter Thiel should add her to his payroll.

Plus, it's fine to ridicule Professor Dave. I mean that name alone is ridiculous. But I agree with him. I stopped taking Sabine seriously after her anti-trans video. Ridicule is underrated. The trick is to sort the useful ridicule from the useless ridicule. It's difficult, but worth the effort.

My attempts at comfort span the space from "we've been here before, it'll be alright" to "it just doesn't matter, most of the world lives under despotic incompetence, why not here too". The former works best on the lefties that believe in social groups and free association (e.g. anarchists). The latter works best on the deeper thinkers who tend toward nihilism in their ideals, but still get up every day and garden or sling pints to the bougies.

No matter what size or type of slab you pour over the grass, it (or maybe some dandelions) will eventually punch through it. That's because ideology cannot be (is not) hermetic, at least not as hermetic as the holders of it think it is.

But those of us who know (or merely confidently believe) reality is made up of a diverse non-wellfounded set of ... what? ... urges? ... nano-agents? ... IDK, whatever, will always anastomose that built environment ... or at least reclaim it like a hermit crab squatting in a tin can.
