As a boomer who grew up on the periphery of the shadow of MAD and
Nuclear Annihilation, I'm more fascinated by less abrupt versions:
Love William Gibson's use of the term "Jackpot" to describe a slow
but unequivocal "slumping" of the game (Jackpot Series)
Also Johnathan Letham's use of "the Arrest" for a similarly styled
apocalyptic transition... a long, slow spin-out of everything.
As an alternative (probably out of reach) Jean-Marc Janovici's Graphic
Novel World without End
<https://www.google.com/books/edition/World_Without_End/yVwBEQAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&printsec=frontcover>
and his emphasis on the distinction between /poverte/ and /sobriete/ and
it's implication for our collective (post?)industrial future.
