Thanks for the personal reflection and the story of the twins... I'll 
have to look into them.   I think your autobiographical reflection helps 
*me* understand the stylization of your optimism.  We each have our own 
(Pess or Opt or Hybrid) I suppose.

A great (if painfully dystopian) romp through "coulda been worse" is the 
Draka <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Domination> series written by 
Santa Fean Steve Stirling (SM Stirling) who I still occasional discover 
writing away on his laptop at Joe's Diner (seems to be there several 
days/mornings a week in the same booth?)
