[FRIAM] Follow up re: Windows Update

That annoyed me immensely when I first acquired Win10.  I did manage to turn it off, though I don't remember how.  But your rant is timely given the WannaCry outbreak and, especially the proposition that pirate versions and/or people who don't update regularly didn't get MS' fix back in March.  It can be likened to vaccinating one's children and herd immunity.  There's a (small) threshold below which, not updating your computer is an expression of personal freedom, yet above which threatens the infrastructure of civilization. 8^)

... I know, I've ignored the (real?) distinction between new features/functions (especially those you won't use or don't want) versus technical/architectural infrastructure.  But when you allow that distinction, you place yourself on a slippery slope from one extreme (We know best, take this update!) to the other (the tyranny of tweakables).
