A text or Slack is real time and it is sometimes necessary to structure things so it sounds less definite.   I don’t think that is generational.    Even in person some speakers are willing to make it clear their thinking is evolving as they listen and speak.  Other speakers have decided what they want to get across before engaging.

Somewhere I read that a common thing for people on their deathbed to mutter under their breath is “Fuck, fuck, fuck.”   I often think that to myself meaning roughly “This is a bad situation that will need to be confronted.  I will stare at it a while and not divert my attention.”
It is like a rest note in musical notation.
