[FRIAM] The sad state of academic psychology....

Saw this image, and it reminded me of some of our discussion last week
about some of the professional issues in psychology (publication crisis,
bad criteria used by top journals, etc.). Note that there is rock solid
research in many areas of psychology, especially those areas that primarily
exist in, or frequently bump up against "the real world." Alas, many areas
of psychological research exist almost entirely in academia, and then the
pressures below take over.

The pressure to upsell results and race to publish, combines poorly with A)
"top journals" specifically looking for to publish things that are
"exciting" and "interesting" and B) a culture of not performing
replications.
