What is often more fascinating to me than Speculative Fiction itself 
(though I always appreciate such which speculates on the topic of "what 
it is to be human...  when/if/as?") is that written by folks with 
legitimate chops in a science or technical field.

Moreso I appreciate the motivational/contemplative background that they 
might offer to frame it:

It *does* look as if the stories and the "story behind the story" blog 
posts are all open-access?     It looks like the Story behind the Story 
entries ended (or changed thread?) in 2019...
