AFAIK dreams are more frequent in REM (rapid eye movement) cycles. If our alarm clock waves us up in the middle of such a cycle we are probably more likely to remember parts of a dream.https://teachmephysiology.com/nervous-system/sensory-system/consciousness-and-sleep/Today when I woke up I dreamt of a picnic in the garden of my parents' house. There was a chain of lights in the tree, similar to one I have seen in the supermarket the day before. A white horse was there too. So my brain was mixing together things I have seen recently and things it remembers fron the past. What would Freud say? No monsters, luckily. Maybe I woke up too early.By the way Freud was addicted to cocainehttps://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/cocaine-how-miracle-drug-nearly-destroyed-sigmund-freud-william-halsted-J.

Why is memory of dreams so variable.   IMHE, it's very easy to increase or decrease the amount one dreams or the amount one remembers of one's dreaming.   Retaining or gernerating dream experiences requires some effort.  And why would you want  to do that?NIckOn Mon, Jun 3, 2024 at 4:15 PM Jochen Fromm <jofr at cas-group.net> wrote:Did you notice that some of the most successful movies from Spielberg are about our deepest fears? Jurassic Park is about monsters from the past. Jaws is about monsters which lurk in the deep blue sea. Indiana Jones is about monsters (and treasures) hiding in dark tombs.Paul Boom remarks in his book "The Sweet Spot" that psychologists have long known that unpleasant dreams are more frequent than pleasant ones. Why is that so? Do unpleasant dreams prepare us for possible dangers or are we just relieved that the are over if they end?https://www.harpercollins.com/products/the-sweet-spot-paul-bloom?variant=40262533840930-J.-. --- - / ...- .- .-.. .. -.. / -- --- .-. ... . / -.-. --- -.. .
